It was announced at the Windows 10 Devices Event on October 26, 2016, with pre-orders beginning that day.

Any guidance to finding a solution would be appreciated. The Surface Studio is an all-in-one PC, designed and produced by Microsoft as part of its Surface series of Windows-based personal computing devices. I don't know if the problem with Illustrator 2018/2019 is due to the Surface Studio or Windows 10 or Illustrator or what, but I sure would like to find a solution. I do have it set to back-up the project and so am able in most cases to restore my work to within a minute or two.

However, I have found with 22.1 that if I save frequently the crashes are less likely to occur. It does generate a crash report that I send along to Adobe. When using 22.1 (I think that is Illustrator 2017) and performing the same actions the program will sometimes crash although infrequently. And, when it is restarted there is no back-up generated to revert to. It doesn't generate a crash report, it just goes away. When it crashes Illustrator simply closes. 25 stroke (or less) while sketching it will work for a little while and then crash. Here is the scenario for the failure: Whenever I am using the Surface Pen in pencil mode at. I did send a bug report to Support but have heard nothing. The crashes are just as frequent, again rendering the application unusable. When the 2019 update was released I installed it. I did the update for Illustrator 2018 and it crashes so frequently (every minute or two - sometimes less) that it was simply unusable and so I reverted to 22.1. I have been running Illustrator 22.1 (64 bit) on my Microsoft Surface Studio Windows 10.
